WE EXIST TO GLORIFY GOD through the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
July 13, 2018
“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.”
Are you good at waiting? Waiting for the traffic light to turn. Waiting for commercials to be over. Waiting for food. Waiting isn’t fun. It’s a test of patience.
Maybe you’ve been waiting for something for a long time, and you’re wondering why the answer hasn’t come yet. As much as we’d like to believe waiting is sitting around and twiddling our thumbs until God does something, waiting isn’t passive. It’s active. Some activities come naturally to us in our waiting — fretting, controlling, calculating, critiquing, etc. These are natural because they come from our sin nature.
Waiting for the Lord is just as active. It involves the active pursuit of God in prayer and putting off fear and choosing hope in God. As a pregnant mother, waiting on the Lord is expectant–believing His deliverance is around the corner. So, how are you preparing for the Lord’s answer?
As our Elders and Search Team continue to pursue the Lord for our next pastor, will you wait for the Lord with us?
“Searching for a new Senior Pastor can–and should– be a weighty decision that takes time and prayer. It involves looking ot the Lord for direction and waiting on His timing.”
– Vanerbloemen Search Group
“The average church takes 12 to 24 months to find new pastor when the previous pastor vacates the pulpit.”
– William Vanderbloemen
God’s timing is perfect. Whether He provides our new pastor in the next few months, or in 24 months, we look to Him. Please know that while we, like the Psalmist, wait for the Lord, your Search Team is diligently continuing to assist the Elders in our search for a Lead Pastor. The team:
- has completed reviewing resumes and sermons for 4 of our candidates and are currently doing the same for 3 more candidates.
- has reviewed an updated Job Description for our Lead Pastor position…you can see the Job Description here.
- is meeting twice monthly for prayer, discussion, and continued candidate review.
We will be introducing and praying for our Search Team during the worship service on Sunday, July 29. Thank you for your continued prayers and patience.
