WE EXIST TO GLORIFY GOD through the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
Below is a written form.
We have an exciting announcement regarding our Lead Pastor search.
For months, the elders have been seeking the Lord’s will regarding our next Lead Pastor. God has been faithful to guide us, grant us wisdom, and answer our prayers. We started the search process with multiple applicants, and the Lord has directed us each step of the way. On November 25, we asked you to pray for the Lord’s guidance as we concluded interviews with one prioritized applicant. After much prayer and further discussions, we would like to announce that one pastor was offered, and recently accepted, Formal Candidacy for the position of Lead Pastor at Harvest Bible Church. We are excited to announce that person is Pastor Drew Schmitz.
We want you to understand why we selected Drew.
We believe Drew meets the biblical qualifications for eldership found in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and I Peter 5. He has expressed, and we recognize, his desire and gifting for pastoral ministry. Throughout the interview process, Drew demonstrated a heart of humility and shared openly about his life, his sin, and his beliefs. He demonstrated a teachable spirit, especially during the interview follow-up process. He has also demonstrated a growing gift of preaching and teaching throughout his time at our church. God has clearly used Drew’s preaching to edify and equip the saints for the work of the ministry. His knowledge of, heart for, and connection to our church family is a clear blessing. Drew and Sarah have been involved in connecting, discipling, guiding and caring for many people in our church body during the past few years. In summary, we believe Drew is a qualified pastor of godly character and a man who loves our church body and has a passion for preaching God’s Word.
Here is what will happen next.
In the next three weeks, we will go through a transition phase called Formal Candidacy. Lord willing, we plan to install Drew as our Lead Pastor on January 6. Two things will take place between now and then. First, staff members, deacons, and a few other leaders will spend time with Drew, to hear his heart, and ask him any questions they might have. Second, per our bylaws, the Lead Pastor will serve on the Elder board. If you are aware of any disqualifying characteristics, use this time to discuss these directly with Drew. If you are unable to resolve the issue, please speak with one of the elders. Please keep in mind that Drew and Sarah will be traveling to South Korea to pick up their adopted son, Ezra, the last week of December.
We also want to take a moment and express our appreciation for our Pastor Search Team. They have provided valuable assistance and wisdom to the elders during the past several months and God has clearly used them throughout this process. Please join us in thanking them.
As we began this process looking to the Lord, we can’t help but look to Him once again and praise Him for His faithfulness. Join us as we give God all the glory for what He has done and continues to do!
